History

The parish takes its name from the great feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, celebrated each year on August 6, when the Orthodox Church commemorates the moment on Mount Tabor when Christ appeared to the Apostles Peter, James, and John in His divine glory, His face shining like the sun and His garments glistening white.
