Getting from Aegina to Milos

If you are heading to Milos from Aegina you are making your way to one of the most visually striking islands in the Cyclades, with a volcanic coastline of white and ochre rock formations and beaches that look like nowhere else in the Aegean.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Milos. The most practical approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Milos ferry, which runs several times daily in summer and takes around 2.5 to 3.5 hours on the fast boat. Total journey time from Aegina is around 4 to 5 hours and is a very manageable connection.

Getting there by air

Milos has its own small airport with connections from Athens. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Milos takes around 40 to 45 minutes in the air. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours. The ferry from Piraeus is often more practical given the frequency and direct delivery to Adamas port in the centre of the island.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Milos ferry. It is the most direct and practical approach. If you are travelling with a car, the conventional ferry from Piraeus takes your vehicle and delivers you directly to Adamas port. Book ahead in summer as Milos is one of the most sought-after islands in the Cyclades and ferries fill up fast.
