Getting from Aegina to Tinos

If you are heading to Tinos from Aegina you are making your way to an island in the Cyclades with the most venerated pilgrimage church in Greece and a tradition of extraordinary marble craftsmanship in its interior villages.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Tinos. The most practical approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then board the ferry from Piraeus or Rafina to Tinos. From Piraeus the trip takes around 2.5 to 5 hours with several daily crossings. From Rafina the trip takes around 2 to 3 hours and is the more convenient option if you are coming from Athens Airport, as Rafina is around 25 kilometres from the terminal.

Getting there by air

Tinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Mykonos. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Mykonos, followed by the short ferry from Mykonos to Tinos taking around 30 minutes, gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and board the ferry to Tinos from there. It is the most straightforward approach. If you are travelling with a car, the conventional ferry from Piraeus takes your vehicle and is the practical choice.
