Getting from Paros to Thassos

If you are heading to Thassos from Paros you are making your way to the greenest island in Greece, a place of pine forests and long sandy beaches just off the Macedonian coast near Kavala.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Paros to Thassos. The island is connected to the mainland only by short ferries from Kavala and Keramoti on the northern coast. Getting to either port from Paros means flying via Athens first.

Getting there by air

Thassos has no airport. The nearest airport is Kavala, around 30 kilometres from the Keramoti ferry port. Flying from Paros to Athens takes around 45 minutes and then Athens to Kavala takes around 1 hour 15 minutes, followed by a taxi to Keramoti and the short ferry to Thassos taking around 40 minutes. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours.

Your best option

Fly to Kavala via Athens and take a taxi to Keramoti for the short ferry to Thassos. The Keramoti to Thassos ferry runs almost hourly in summer and you rarely need to wait more than an hour for the next boat.
