Getting from Rhodes to Andros

If you are heading to Andros from Rhodes you are making your way to the northernmost island in the Cyclades, to the northwest. It has neoclassical mansions, an art museum of genuinely international quality and a network of old footpaths connecting the villages that make it one of the best hiking destinations in the group.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Andros. Getting there means taking the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus and then connecting onto the Rafina to Andros service, which takes around 1 to 2 hours and runs up to 11 times daily.

Getting there by air

Andros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then a taxi or bus to Rafina takes around 30 minutes, followed by the ferry to Andros taking around 1 to 2 hours. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Fly to Athens and take the ferry from Rafina to Andros. If you are arriving at Athens Airport, Rafina is a short taxi or bus ride from the terminal. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then drive to Rafina and take the ferry to Andros.
