Getting from Rhodes to Folegandros

If you are heading to Folegandros from Rhodes you are making your way to a small clifftop island in the southern Cyclades, to the northwest. It has a Chora perched on the edge of a sheer drop above the sea and an atmosphere of genuine calm.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Folegandros. Getting there means taking the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus and then connecting onto the Cyclades network, or flying via Athens and taking the ferry from Piraeus to Folegandros, which takes around 4 to 5 hours on the fast service.

Getting there by air

Folegandros has no airport. The nearest airport is Santorini. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then Athens to Santorini takes around 45 minutes, followed by the short ferry to Folegandros taking around 1 hour 30 minutes. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Fly to Santorini via Athens and take the ferry across to Folegandros. It is the most practical approach. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then take the ferry from Piraeus to Folegandros.
