Getting from Rhodes to Leros

If you are heading to Leros from Rhodes you are making your way to an island further north in the Dodecanese chain.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Rhodes to Leros running several times a week year-round, taking around 5 to 7 hours. Dodekanisos Seaways also operates faster vessels on the route seasonally, taking considerably less time. Both connect the two islands without going through Athens. Check the schedule before planning around it and build your travel dates around the available departures.

Getting there by air

Both Rhodes and Leros have airports. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then Athens to Leros takes around 50 minutes. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the direct ferry if the schedule works and you have the time. It connects the two islands without going through Athens. If time matters, fly via Athens.
