Getting from Rhodes to Nisyros
If you are heading to Nisyros from Rhodes you are making a short trip to a neighbouring island to the northwest, an active volcano where the entire island sits inside a caldera.
Take the ferry
There is a direct ferry from Rhodes to Nisyros running several times a week year-round, taking around 2 to 3 hours. Faster vessel options are also available seasonally. Both connect the two islands without going through Athens.
Getting there by air
Nisyros has no airport. The ferry from Rhodes is the only realistic option and at under 3 hours it is a manageable trip.
Your best option
Take the ferry from Rhodes. It is direct and avoids going through Athens entirely. Check the schedule before planning around it as the frequency is limited outside of peak summer.
