Getting from Rhodes to Kalymnos

If you are heading to Kalymnos from Rhodes you are making your way to an island further north in the Dodecanese chain. It is known above all for its sponge diving tradition and its status as one of the premier rock climbing destinations in Europe.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Rhodes to Kalymnos running several times a week year-round, taking around 3 to 4 hours. Faster vessel options are also available seasonally, taking considerably less time. Both connect the two islands without going through Athens.

Getting there by air

Both Rhodes and Kalymnos have airports. There are no direct flights between the two islands. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights. The ferry is the most practical choice on this route.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Rhodes. It is direct and avoids going through Athens entirely. Check the schedule before planning around it as the frequency is limited outside of peak summer.
