Getting from Rhodes to Oinousses

If you are heading to Oinousses from Rhodes you are making your way to a small cluster of islands just off the northeastern coast of Chios, in the northeastern Aegean. It has a naval tradition that produced a disproportionate share of Greece's great shipping dynasties.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Oinousses. The island is accessible only via Chios, with a daily local ferry from Chios main port taking around 1 hour. Getting to Chios from Rhodes means flying via Athens first.

Getting there by air

Oinousses has no airport. The nearest airport is Chios, which has connections from Athens. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then Athens to Chios takes around 50 minutes, followed by the local ferry to Oinousses taking around 1 hour. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Fly to Chios via Athens and take the local ferry across to Oinousses. Check the daily ferry schedule from Chios before booking your flights and plan your Chios arrival around the afternoon departure. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then take the ferry from Piraeus to Chios and connect to Oinousses from there.
