About the Beach
Faros is a long and impressive beach on the southeastern tip of the island, offering a much calmer and flatter landscape than the rugged north. The shore is a mix of sand and fine pebbles, stretching for several kilometers along a very still and warm sea. Because it faces south, it is perfectly protected from the strong 'meltemi' winds, making it a reliable choice for a peaceful swim even when other beaches are wavy. There are several excellent fish tavernas located right on the edge of the sand where you can eat with your feet almost in the water. It has a very slow-paced, laid-back environment that is ideal for those who want to escape the crowds and enjoy long walks along the shoreline. The water is exceptionally clear, making it a popular spot for local families and anyone seeking a quiet day.
