About the Beach
Seychelles is the most famous beach on Ikaria, created accidentally during the construction of a tunnel in the 1980s. It features bright white pebbles and massive granite boulders that give the water a stunning, tropical turquoise color. To reach it, you must hike down a steep and slippery path from the road, so sturdy shoes are a necessity. The water is deep and cool, offering an incredible swimming experience amidst the dramatic rock formations. There are no facilities or shade, so the environment feels very raw and powerful despite its popularity. It is often crowded in August, but the visual impact of the white cliffs against the blue sea remains unmatched. It is a place that feels entirely different from any other beach in Greece, capturing a unique blend of man made history and natural beauty.
