About the Beach

Kampos is a wide and impressive sandy beach on the northern coast of Ikaria that offers a very open and natural landscape. It is one of the few places on the island with soft, golden sand and very shallow water, which makes it a favorite for long walks along the shoreline and for families. The beach is situated right next to the ruins of ancient Oinoe, adding a bit of historical depth to the scenery. While there are a few beach bars and some organized sections, the beach is large enough that it never feels cramped and you can always find a quiet spot to yourself. A small river flows into the sea at one end, creating a lush, green area that contrasts with the dry hillsides. It’s a very calm and inviting place to swim, provided the northern winds aren't too strong on the day you visit.
