About the Beach
Iero is a rugged and fascinating cove located on the northern tip of Ikaria, far away from the main tourist hubs. The beach is a mix of pebbles and sand and is framed by unique rock formations and a large sea cave that you can explore. It is a very quiet and remote destination that feels completely untouched, offering a real sense of solitude and discovery. The water is deep, cool, and incredibly transparent, making it a great spot for confident swimmers and snorkelers. There is a small chapel dedicated to Agios Georgios nearby and a few simple stone structures, but otherwise, there are no facilities at all. It’s the kind of place you go to if you want to experience the wilder and more legendary side of Ikaria, where the focus is entirely on the natural beauty of the cliffs and the Aegean sea.
