About the Beach
Kalotaritissa Beach is a very quiet and beautiful little bay located at the far northern end of the island of Donoussa, which is a tiny island where people go when they want to truly escape the noisy world. The beach has a mix of sand and fine pebbles and the water is a bright turquoise color that stays very calm because a small islet called Skilonisi sits right in front of the bay and acts like a shield against the big waves. There is a tiny village right behind the sand with one traditional taverna where you can get a snack, but there is no mobile phone signal or internet here, so it feels like you have traveled back in time. It is the kind of place where you can spend the whole afternoon swimming in the clean water and looking up at the dry rocky mountains without seeing many other people, and it is definitely one of the most peaceful spots in the whole Aegean Sea where you can just relax and forget about everything else.
