About the Beach

Mesa Ammos Beach is a large and impressive beach on the north side of Donoussa that is often considered the hidden twin of the more famous Kalotaritissa bay because it is tucked just around the corner. It is a wide beach with golden sand and some pebbles, and it is protected by the massive mountain of Papas, which is the highest point on the whole island and looks very grand from the water. Because it is a bit harder to get to than the main village beaches, it stays very quiet and peaceful even in the middle of the summer, and the water is so clear that it looks like liquid crystal when the sun hits it. It is a wonderful place to go if you want to find a lot of space to yourself and enjoy a long swim in the deep blue sea while looking up at the giant rocky peaks and the bright blue sky above the northern Cyclades.
