About the Beach
Karkinagri is located at the very end of the road on the southwestern tip of Ikaria, sitting in a landscape of massive granite rocks. The beach is a small, quiet pebble cove right next to the traditional fishing village, offering a very authentic and isolated experience. The water is exceptionally deep and clear, perfect for those who enjoy swimming in the open sea. Because it is so remote, you will mostly find local residents and a few adventurous travelers enjoying the silence. There are several small tavernas in the village where you can eat fresh fish caught that same morning. It is an ideal spot for anyone who wants to see the most rugged and uncommercialized part of the island. The sense of isolation here is total, making it a peaceful sanctuary far away from the main tourist paths.
