Getting from Aegina to Alonissos

If you are heading to Alonissos from Aegina you are making your way to the most remote of the Sporades group, in the northern Aegean. It sits at the heart of the largest protected marine area in Europe with extraordinarily clear water and an atmosphere of genuine calm.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Alonissos. The most practical ferry approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then travel by road to Agios Konstantinos for the Sporades ferry to Alonissos, which takes around 4 to 5 hours via Skiathos and Skopelos. The drive from Athens to Agios Konstantinos takes around 2 hours. Alternatively, take the road to Mantoudi in Evia, around 2.5 hours from Athens, for the summer high-speed ferry taking around 2 hours.

Getting there by air

Alonissos has no commercial airport. The nearest airport is Skiathos. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Skiathos, followed by the ferry to Alonissos taking around 1 to 2 hours, gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, fly to Skiathos and take the ferry across to Alonissos. It is the most time efficient approach. If you are travelling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and drive to Agios Konstantinos for the ferry to Alonissos from there.
