Fast catamarans cover the distance in around 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours. Conventional ferries take around 4 to 5 hours. From Piraeus the metro takes around 20 minutes to central Athens. Book ahead in July and August.
Getting there by air
Both Paros and Athens have airports. The flight from Paros to Athens takes around 45 minutes. Flying is the fastest option but the ferry delivers you directly to Piraeus without the need for airport transfers.
Your best option
Take the ferry if you have the time. The fast catamaran at around 3 hours is a manageable and enjoyable trip. If you are short on time or have a connecting flight, fly. Either way book ahead in summer as both ferry and flight fill up fast on this route.
