Getting from Paros to Koufonisia

If you are heading to Koufonisia from Paros you are making your way to the most sociable of the Small Cyclades, a tiny island with some of the finest beaches in the Cyclades and a lively summer atmosphere that punches well above its size.

Take the ferry

There is a direct ferry from Paros to Koufonisia running several times a week in summer, taking around 2 to 3 hours via Naxos. The Express Skopelitis also serves the route on its regular Small Cyclades run. Check the schedule before planning around it as the frequency is limited outside of peak summer.

Getting there by air

Koufonisia has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos, which has connections from Athens. Flying from Paros to Athens takes around 45 minutes and then Athens to Naxos takes around 45 minutes, followed by the short ferry to Koufonisia taking around 45 minutes. Total travel time adds significant complexity compared to the direct ferry.

Your best option

Take the direct ferry from Paros. It is the most practical approach and avoids going through Athens entirely. Book ahead in summer as Koufonisia has very limited accommodation and the island fills up fast.
