Getting from Paros to Chios

If you are heading to Chios from Paros you are making your way to one of the most overlooked islands in Greece, famous above all for its mastic trees in the south of the island that produce a resin found nowhere else on earth.

 

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Paros to Chios. The connection goes via Piraeus, with the ferry from Piraeus to Chios taking around 8 to 10 hours. Getting to Piraeus from Paros means taking the ferry, which takes around 3 to 5 hours, making the total journey by sea the better part of two days. Flying is the only realistic option for most travellers.

 

Getting there by air

Both Paros and Chios have airports. Flying from Paros to Athens takes around 45 minutes and then Athens to Chios takes around 50 minutes. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

 

Your best option

Fly via Athens. It is the only realistic approach and the connection is straightforward. Chios Airport is close to the town and you are in the centre within minutes of landing.
