Getting from Paros to Patmos

If you are heading to Patmos from Paros you are making your way to an island in the northern Dodecanese, where John the Apostle wrote the Book of Revelation and the 11th century monastery of Saint John the Theologian above Chora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Take the ferry

There is a direct seasonal ferry from Paros to Patmos running in summer, taking around 5 to 7 hours depending on the vessel and the stops along the way. The route is not year-round so check the schedule before planning around it. Outside of the summer season the connection goes via Piraeus.

Getting there by air

Patmos has no airport. The nearest airports are Leros and Kos. Flying from Paros to Athens takes around 45 minutes and then Athens to Leros takes around 50 minutes, followed by the ferry from Leros to Patmos taking around 1 hour. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours.

Your best option

Fly to Leros via Athens and take the ferry across to Patmos if time matters. If the direct summer ferry works for your schedule it is a good option and connects the two islands without going through Athens.
