Getting from Rhodes to Donoussa
If you are heading to Donoussa from Rhodes you are making your way to one of the Small Cyclades islands, northeast of Naxos. It has good beaches and a single main settlement with an atmosphere of genuine isolation.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Donoussa. Getting there means taking the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus and then connecting via Naxos, with the ferry from Naxos to Donoussa taking around 2 to 3 hours.
Getting there by air
Donoussa has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos, which has connections from Athens. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then Athens to Naxos takes around 45 minutes, followed by the ferry to Donoussa taking around 2 to 3 hours. Total travel time is around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Fly to Naxos via Athens and take the ferry across to Donoussa. It is the most practical approach. Give yourself at least two nights on Donoussa and come prepared as facilities on the island are limited. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then take the ferry from Piraeus to Naxos and connect to Donoussa from there.
