Getting from Rhodes to Lavrio
If you are heading to Lavrio from Rhodes you are making your way to the port closest to Athens Airport on the southeastern tip of Attica, the departure point for ferries to Kea, Kythnos and several other Cycladic islands.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Lavrio. Getting there means taking the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus and then travelling to Lavrio, around 35 kilometres from Piraeus and closer to Athens Airport than the city centre.
Getting there by air
Lavrio has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 35 kilometres to the northwest. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then a taxi or bus to Lavrio takes around 30 to 40 minutes from the airport. Total travel time is around 2 to 3 hours.
Your best option
Fly to Athens and take a taxi or bus to Lavrio from the airport. It is fast and the proximity of Lavrio to Athens Airport makes the connection straightforward. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then drive to Lavrio from there.
