Getting from Rhodes to Rafina

If you are heading to Rafina from Rhodes you are making your way to the second most important ferry port serving Athens, on the northeastern Attica coast and the closest port to Athens Airport.

 

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Rafina. Getting there means taking the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus and then travelling to Rafina, around 30 kilometres from central Athens and 25 kilometres from Athens Airport.

 

Getting there by air

Rafina has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 25 kilometres to the southwest. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then a taxi or bus to Rafina takes around 30 minutes from the airport. Total travel time is around 2 to 3 hours.

 

Your best option

Fly to Athens and take a taxi or bus directly to Rafina from the airport. It is fast and drops you close to the ferry terminal. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then drive to Rafina from there.
