Getting from Rhodes to Evia
If you are heading to Evia from Rhodes you are making your way to the second largest island in Greece, to the northwest, connected to the mainland by road bridges and sitting within easy reach of Athens.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Evia. Getting there means taking the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus and then either crossing the bridge at Halkida, around 90 kilometres from central Athens, or taking one of the short mainland to Evia ferry connections.
Getting there by air
Evia has no commercial airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then the drive or bus to Halkida takes around 1.5 hours. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours.
Your best option
Fly to Athens and drive or take the bus to Halkida. The bridge crossing into Evia is straightforward and from Halkida you can head north toward the thermal baths at Edipsos or south toward the remote beaches of the southern tip. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then drive to Halkida from there.
