Getting from Rhodes to Piraeus

If you are heading to Piraeus from Rhodes you are making your way to the largest port in Greece and the gateway to Athens and the wider ferry network.

Take the ferry

The Rhodes to Piraeus ferry is one of the longest but most classic routes in Greece, running year-round with several weekly departures. The trip takes around 14 to 18 hours depending on the vessel and the stops along the way. The overnight crossing is the practical approach, departing in the evening and arriving in Piraeus in the morning. Cabins are available on the larger vessels. Book ahead in July and August.

Getting there by air

Both Rhodes and Athens have airports. Multiple daily flights connect the two with the journey taking around 1 hour. This is the fastest option and the one most people take.

Your best option

Fly if time matters. The 1 hour flight is hard to beat. If you want the experience of the overnight ferry through the Dodecanese and into Piraeus, it is a genuinely good journey on the larger vessels with cabins available, especially if you have a car with you.
