Getting from Rhodes to Poros
If you are heading to Poros from Rhodes you are making your way to a small island in the Saronic Gulf, on the opposite side of Greece. It sits just 200 metres from the Peloponnese mainland with a clocktower above the town and views across to the mountains behind it.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Poros. Getting there means taking the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus and then connecting onto the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Poros, which takes around 50 minutes to just over an hour. Total journey by sea takes the better part of two days.
Getting there by air
Poros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Poros takes around 50 minutes to just over an hour. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Fly to Athens and take the Saronic ferry from Piraeus to Poros. It is the most practical approach. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice as it saves the cost and complexity of shipping a vehicle separately.
