About the Beach

Avlaki is a small and charming pebble beach on Hydra that you can reach by a short walk along the coastal path from the main harbor. Unlike many other islands, Hydra is very rocky, so Avlaki is one of the few spots where you can easily get into the water from the shore. The water is deep, cool, and very clear, providing a great place for a vigorous swim. There is a small concrete pier that people often use for sunbathing or jumping into the sea. Because it is located at the bottom of a steep set of stone steps, the beach feels a bit more private than the town's main waterfront. It is a great place to cool off after a walk, and the views of the surrounding stone houses and the Saronic Gulf are beautiful. There are no facilities on the sand, but several cafes are just a few minutes away.
