About the Beach
Spilia is one of the first places you’ll encounter when walking left from the main harbor of Hydra, and it’s essentially a collection of stone terraces built into the side of a cliff. There is no sand or pebbles here; instead, you jump or dive directly into deep, crystal-clear water from the rocks. It’s a very popular and social spot because it’s so close to town and features a well-known bar that plays music throughout the day. Ladders are built into the stone to help you climb back out of the sea. It’s the perfect place for a quick and refreshing swim if you don’t have much time or don’t want to hike to a remote cove. The view of the harbor and the incoming ferries from the platforms is fantastic, especially as the sun starts to move lower in the sky and the water turns a darker, more intense blue.
