About the Beach
Petres Beach is a rugged and interesting beach located at the end of a deep gorge where the Petres River flows into the sea under a big bridge on the road to Chania. It has very clear and deep water with lots of big rocks scattered around both on the sand and under the water, which makes it a fantastic place to go snorkeling to see big schools of fish. The beach is usually a bit quieter than the ones right in the city and it feels very wild because of the high cliffs and the sound of the waves hitting the rocks, but there is still a nice place nearby to grab a snack after you swim.
