About the Beach
Souda Beach is a very large and beautiful beach located on the south coast of Crete near Plakias that is famous for having a small group of palm trees growing right along a stream that runs into the sea. The sand is a mix of coarse grains and small pebbles and the water is a bright blue color that feels very fresh and clean because the bay is so wide and open to the Libyan Sea. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out and find their own space, and there are a few traditional tavernas right behind the sand where you can get a cold drink and look out at the big green hills that surround the whole area.
