Getting from Aegina to Anafi

If you are heading to Anafi from Aegina you are making your way to one of the most remote islands in the Cyclades, close to Santorini in the southern Aegean. It has a monolithic rock rising 460 metres from the sea and almost no tourist infrastructure.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Anafi. The most practical ferry approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Anafi ferry, which runs around 3 times a week and takes around 8 to 11 hours. The ferry stops at Santorini along the way, which is also a useful connection point.

Getting there by air

Anafi has no airport. The nearest airport is Santorini. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Santorini, followed by the short ferry from Santorini to Anafi taking around 1 hour 15 minutes, gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, fly to Santorini and take the short ferry across to Anafi. It is the most time efficient approach. If you are travelling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and board the overnight Piraeus to Anafi ferry, which takes your vehicle and arrives in the morning. Come with everything you need as the island has almost no facilities.
