Getting from Aegina to Andros

If you are heading to Andros from Aegina you are making your way to the northernmost island in the Cyclades, with neoclassical mansions, an art museum of genuinely international quality and a network of old footpaths connecting the villages.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Andros. Andros is served primarily from Rafina on the northeastern Attica coast, not from Piraeus. The most practical approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then travel to Rafina by taxi or bus, around 45 minutes to 1 hour, for the ferry to Andros, which takes around 1 to 2 hours and runs up to 11 times daily.

Getting there by air

Andros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and then the KTEL bus to Rafina, followed by the ferry to Andros, gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, travel to Rafina and take the ferry across to Andros. If you are travelling with a car, the ferry from Aegina already puts you at Piraeus with your vehicle, then drive to Rafina for the ferry to Andros. Up to 11 daily departures from Rafina means you rarely need to plan far in advance.
