Getting from Aegina to Donoussa
If you are heading to Donoussa from Aegina you are making your way to one of the Small Cyclades islands, northeast of Naxos. It is a small island with good beaches and a single main settlement with an atmosphere of genuine isolation.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Donoussa. The most practical approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Donoussa ferry, which runs 3 times a week and takes around 7 to 9 hours. In summer, flying to Naxos and taking the Express Skopelitis or Blue Star ferry from Naxos to Donoussa, which takes around 2 to 3 hours, is a faster alternative.
Getting there by air
Donoussa has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Naxos, followed by the ferry to Donoussa taking around 2 to 3 hours, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours.
Your best option
Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, fly to Naxos and take the ferry across to Donoussa. It is the most practical approach. Give yourself at least two nights on Donoussa and come prepared as facilities on the island are limited.
