Getting from Aegina to Kimolos

If you are heading to Kimolos from Aegina you are making your way to a small white island just off the northwestern tip of Milos in the western Cyclades. It has beaches that see a fraction of the crowds found anywhere nearby.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Kimolos. The most practical ferry approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Kimolos ferry, which takes around 6 to 8 hours and runs a few times a week. Alternatively, take the Piraeus to Milos ferry and cross to Kimolos from there on the short local ferry from Pollonia, which takes around 20 minutes.

Getting there by air

Kimolos has no airport. The nearest airport is Milos. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Milos takes around 45 minutes in the air, followed by the short ferry to Kimolos taking around 20 minutes. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, fly to Milos and take the short ferry across to Kimolos. It is the fastest and most practical approach. If you are travelling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and then take the Piraeus to Milos ferry, crossing to Kimolos from Pollonia on the local ferry.
