Getting from Aegina to Schinoussa
If you are heading to Schinoussa from Aegina you are making your way to one of the most quietly beautiful of the Small Cyclades, a small island of low hills, olive trees and more than 18 beaches that you can walk across in an afternoon.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Schinoussa. The most practical approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Schinoussa ferry, which runs around 3 times a week and takes around 6 to 8 hours. Alternatively, take the Piraeus ferry to Naxos and connect to Schinoussa from there on the local Small Cyclades ferry, which takes around 1 hour 15 minutes from Naxos and runs daily in summer.
Getting there by air
Schinoussa has no airport. The nearest airport is Naxos. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Naxos, followed by the ferry to Schinoussa taking around 1 hour 15 minutes, gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours.
Your best option
Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and fly to Naxos, then take the local ferry across to Schinoussa. It is the most time efficient approach. Give yourself at least two nights on Schinoussa and come with everything you need. If you are travelling with a car, take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and board the conventional ferry from Piraeus directly to Schinoussa.
