Getting from Aegina to Sifnos

If you are heading to Sifnos from Aegina you are making your way to one of the most respected islands in the Cyclades, known above all for its food, a tradition of pottery and cooking that has made it one of the most regarded gastronomic destinations in the Aegean.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Sifnos. The most practical approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Sifnos ferry, which runs up to 4 daily crossings in summer and takes around 2.5 hours on the fast boat and around 5 hours on a conventional vessel. Total journey time from Aegina is around 3 to 6 hours depending on the vessel and is a very manageable connection.

Getting there by air

Sifnos has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. The ferry from Piraeus is the only realistic option and is considerably more practical than flying given the direct delivery to the port of Kamares.

Your best option

Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Sifnos ferry. It is the most direct and practical approach. The fast boat at around 2.5 hours is a manageable crossing. If you are travelling with a car, the conventional ferry from Piraeus takes your vehicle directly to Kamares port.
