Getting from Aegina to Sikinos
If you are heading to Sikinos from Aegina you are making your way to one of the lesser talked about islands in the Cyclades, a small hilly island with a Chora perched on a ridge above the port and an atmosphere of genuine calm.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Aegina to Sikinos. The most practical approach is to take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, which takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, and then board the Piraeus to Sikinos ferry, which runs around 3 times a week in summer and takes around 4.5 to 10 hours depending on the vessel and the stops along the way.
Getting there by air
Sikinos has no airport. The nearest airport is Santorini. Taking the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus, the metro to Athens Airport and flying to Santorini, followed by the short ferry from Santorini to Sikinos taking around 2 to 3 hours, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours.
Your best option
Take the Saronic ferry from Aegina to Piraeus and board the Piraeus to Sikinos ferry. Check the schedule carefully as the frequency is limited and your travel dates need to align with the departure days. If you are travelling with a car, the conventional ferry from Piraeus takes your vehicle and is the practical choice.
