Getting from Naxos to Zakynthos
If you are heading to Zakynthos from Naxos you are making your way to one of the most amazing of the Ionian islands, on the opposite side of Greece. It has Navagio Beach, the shipwreck cove with towering white cliffs and turquoise water that is one of the most photographed places in the Mediterranean.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Naxos to Zakynthos. No Ionian island is connected by sea to any Aegean island. Getting there by sea means taking the ferry from Naxos to Piraeus and then travelling by road to Kylini for the onward ferry to Zakynthos, which takes around 1 hour 15 minutes. The total journey takes the better part of a day.
Getting there by air
Both Naxos and Zakynthos have airports. Flying from Naxos to Athens takes around 45 minutes and then Athens to Zakynthos takes around 1 hour. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Fly to Zakynthos via Athens. It is the most practical approach. If you are travelling with a car, take the ferry from Naxos to Piraeus and then drive to Kylini for the ferry across to Zakynthos.
