About the Beach
Kavalourko Beach is a unique and geologically impressive coastal sanctuary on the northern coast of Tinos, located near the village of Panormos and famous for its surreal rock formations and the ancient carving of Aeolus in the stone. It features a shore of fine sand and small pebbles with exceptionally clear blue water, surrounded by flat granite rocks that have been sculpted by the wind and sea into organic shapes that provide natural platforms for sunbathing. The beach is entirely unorganized and maintains a raw, majestic character, often attracting a bohemian and artistic crowd who come to witness the unique intersection of natural power and human history. Because it faces the open sea, the beach is subject to the northern meltemi winds, making it an invigorating spot for a powerful swim when the waves are high and the maritime energy is at its peak. The water is deep and fresh, offering a high-quality environment for exploration of the rocky edges where the visibility is consistently perfect for underwater photography. Access is via a scenic coastal path that starts from the neighboring beach of Agia Thalassa, requiring a short walk that helps keep the atmosphere quiet and respectful for those who make the journey to this landmark destination.
