About the Beach
Mandraki Beach is a spectacular and wild sandy shore on the northwestern coast of Skiathos, also known as the port of Xerxes due to its historical significance during the Persian Wars. It features a wide stretch of fine golden sand and intense turquoise water, backed by impressive red-colored cliffs and a dense forest of Mandraki pines that provide a fresh scent to the air. The beach is partially organized with a rustic wooden canteen and a few sunbeds, but most of the shore remains free for those who prefer a natural experience. Because it faces the open sea, the beach can be subject to the northern winds and waves, making it an invigorating spot for a powerful swim in a rugged setting. Access is via a scenic dirt road through the forest, which keeps the crowds away even during the peak summer months. It is a destination for nature lovers and those who want to find a private and scenic corner of the Sporades at the end of a beautiful trail. The entry into the water is very easy and sandy for all swimmers, and the clarity is consistently high. The atmosphere is quiet and reflects the natural power of the Aegean. It is one of the best spots to watch the sunset.
